The folks I worked with in the financial and business world were mostly doing fine, making money, investing and in control. But the people I was talking to in faith communities were struggling. While they were rich in faith, their finances were another story: years or decades of poor decisions, unmanageable debt, too much month at the end of the money.

I was determined to find out why… and I soon discovered that many people of faith had never been educated in sound financial management. Worse, they actively avoided thinking or talking about their finances, victims of old misinterpretations that told them that paying attention to money was counter to God’s will. No wonder they were often locked in a cycle of debt, robbing Peter to pay Paul.

I saw that it wasn’t their fault they were in financial distress… they had never been taught how to manage their money, and many actually believed God wanted them to be poor!

In that moment, I realized that my unique perspective, passions and educational background pointed directly to my calling: I would become the bridge between the financial world and people of faith.

So I began teaching finances from a faith perspective to the people who needed it most.

I worked with individuals, groups/congregations, and even entire jurisdictions (alternative convocations). As I shared my deep knowledge of the financial world (Northwestern University, BA Economics, University of Chicago Booth School of Business MBA), common misconceptions about Biblical wealth principles kept showing up. These mistaken spiritual beliefs led to misdirected or uninformed financial decisions, trapping good people in a sea of debt. But I’m here with the best good news since the Good News: it doesn’t have to be that way!

God wants His people to be financially free – so that they can enjoy His gifts, share them generously with others and leave a wonderful legacy for future generations of the faithful. And I want to help.
